About Bailey Rae
Bailey Rae, sixteen-year-old country music singer and performer, is a proud small town Oklahoma girl. Reading like the lyrics of a hit song, she discovered the power and persuasion of country music after her “Grammie” went to a garage sale and found a box of old country vinyl records that had belonged to Bailey Rae’s great-great grandmother. She began listening to the long-loved songs of Eddie Arnold, Loretta Lynn and Buck Owens, getting a taste for the soul-stirring rhythms and inflections that make up that traditional country music sound. Laying that first piece of vinyl onto the turntable has since spun Bailey Rae’s love for music into a life purpose and a well-recognized vocal talent.
Before devoting herself to keeping traditional country music alive, Bailey Rae was already a natural on the stage and under the bright lights. At an early age, she began clogging on a competitive team and she soon found a true passion for performing. Bailey Rae’s hard work and dedication helped her to win several National Championships and on to a World Championship competition with her clogging team. Similar to the title of Reba’s 1992 hit, “Is There Life Out There,” Bailey Rae loved clogging, but wanted something more. She’d been singing in church for years and after hearing of a vocal coach in Denison, Texas, Bailey Rae started performing with the Shawnda Rains Entertainment Group. It was then that she began to strike the right chords and fine tune her singing skills. Soon after joining Shawnda Rains, she began regularly performing and found a true love for helping to preserve the classic country sound through her pure country voice.
When she was thirteen years old, Bailey Rae truly “saw the light” while on her first trip to Branson, Missouri to perform with the Shawnda Rains Entertainment Group. It was a pivotal experience and was a solid confirmation for Bailey Rae – she knew at that moment, singing was what she wanted to do with her life. The decision did not come without sacrifice. Bailey Rae gave up a normal teenage life to begin performing at country music opry’s and events several times a month. She also started taking guitar lessons to enhance her performance abilities.
Fast forward to today, Bailey Rae is still performing almost every weekend at opry shows, events and now acoustic gigs, too. With her true country talent and maturity performing on stage, people are always in amazement that she is only sixteen years old. Bailey Rae still loves to sing traditional country music and has been blessed with many exciting opportunities, including performing in Branson, Missouri, Pigeon Forge and Nashville, Tennessee. Bailey Rae is an award-winning vocalist and a three-year finalist for the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame Showcase in Carthage, Texas. Other awards include being named the 2018 Traditional Country Horizon Award winner for the North American Country Music Association International, 2018 Dogwood Jamboree Talent Search Winner and placing 2nd at the National Sand Bass Festival Talent Contest where Bailey Rae had the honor of opening for country music artist, Doug Stone.
Bailey Rae still collects classic country vinyl and has over a hundred albums in her current collection from artists such as Dolly Parton, Ernest Tubbs, Merle Haggard and Emmylou Harris. Those albums once belonging to her Great-Great Granny Grunt are still her favorites though, reminding her of the resilient women who’ve made her who she is today. Though Bailey Rae and Granny Grunt never met, her album collection only confirms that she was a straight-shootin’ kinda’ gal with a heart of gold – just like Bailey Rae. And that’s the same connection Bailey Rae wants people to feel when she performs on stage. For a moment, reconnecting them with a memory or an experience in times past and putting a smile on their face using the treasured melodies of country music.
